I had Nevik from They Might Be Monkeys, my arborists, over yesterday. They were going to scrape of excess mistletoe off my two hackberry trees in the front. Instead we decided one needed to be taken down as it was far to weakened and I didn't want something big coming down on my truck in the driveway under it. The one on the street needed to have a large limb removed but the rest could receive a good scraping. Neighbor's looming hackberries will also be trimmed back some. It's going to be a good chunk of change, but for what they are doing it is quite reasonable. Plus they do a careful and good job. It started to rain after they started yesterday, so trimming was called off. They are very busy but they will be back to that soon. Downing the tree though may have to wait until the end of January. I'll lose a lot of shade, my studio will be hotter in the summer. But I'm planning to plant a southern oak once the big tree comes down. Eventually I'd like to get rid of the last hackberry standing. There were four when I moved in. For each tree down I plant one or two new ones. Tags: arborists, trees Current Mood: chilly Current Music: WFMU - Ghedalia Tazartes - Assassins 1
